Anguilla’s CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa: Just Right for Romance
To celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary, we returned to St. Maarten then concluded our trip on Anguilla, an island guaranteed to deliver just the right combination of laid-back luxury, unrivaled scenery, scrumptuous cuisine, personalized pampering, welcoming people and impromptu fun to create an unforgettable, romantic escape for this special occasion. Somewhere along the way, our Caribbean anniversary trip became our second “Caribbean honeymoon“.
For this half of our milestone trip, we splurged on a four night stay at the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World and a place that had been on our Caribbean bucket list for a while (Check!).
Just moments after arriving on Anguilla, the resort’s dedication to customer service was apparent. Barely after taking two steps outside of the custom’s office, we were greeted by name and wished a heartfelt “Happy Anniversary” (the first of many that trip).
Had we not chosen to rent our own car (for uninhibited Anguillan Soul trekking, of course), we would have taken the resort’s complimentary, air-conditioned shuttle to our temporary home away from home on Rendezvous Bay. But being adventurers at heart, Mango Eddie took to the wheel and expertly navigated the left-sided drive.
Within minutes, we arrived at our destination. The moment we stepped out of our rental car and in to the sun-drenched lobby, we felt and were treated like VIPs who we were returning home. We walked through the lobby with swagger as another round of “Welcome!” and “Happy Anniversary!” greeted us.
While our car was parked and bags unloaded, we were ushered over to a comfortable seating area beside the bar where voila! a pair of fresh rum punches appeared like magic. Moments later, we were welcomed by the general manager and then given a charismatic orientation by Assistant Manager, Christopher Richardson, who sprinkled anniversary congratulations with some wise (and humorous) Caribbean advice on maintaining a successful marriage. We hadn’t even checked into our room yet, but man, we were already loving this resort and our anniversary in the Caribbean.
Though we had visited the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa previously, we couldn’t help but to be struck anew by its beauty. Fulfilling its goal of transporting guests to a Mediterranean retreat by the sea, its curved, white buildings peaked out through clusters of lush foliage and popped against the shimmering aquamarine waters in the background. As we strolled through the bougainvillea-scented grounds and past an infiniti pool that seemed to go on forever, we were in no hurry to check in to our room. Without even realizing it, we had succumbed to the laid back, romance of CuisinArt.
We eventually reached our room – a spacious and well decorated space where a chilled bottle of wine, tomatoes from the hydroponic farm and an anniversary card awaited us (yay!) Of all its amenities (including flat screen TV, Bose box, marble bathroom, soaking tub, L’Occitane and Rusk bath products, and a walk-in closet) we agreed the breathtaking view of Rendezvous Bay was our favorite. Whether gazing at it from bed, the sofa or the terrace, that postcard-ready view of shimmering blue water, swaying grass and a coconut tree, had us convinced we were in our own private paradise.
We could easily have spent the entire trip hiding away in our room (continental breakfast is free and can be delivered to your room each morning) but we just couldn’t resist the urge to sample from the menu of resort activities. Cooking classes? Tennis lessons? Fitness classes? Golf? Garden tour? In the end, couples massages at the renowned Venus Spa, a rum tasting class at the bar lobby, the poolside Manager’s cocktail party and strolls along the picturesque beach delivered just the right dose of romance for our anniversary trip.
Our stay at the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa was absolutely phenomenal. A fantastic setting, assortment of on-site activities and cast of welcoming staff made our fifth anniversary in the Caribbean something to remember. In fact, it proved harder than we had expected to leave the resort in search of experiences around the island (but of course, we did and we’ll soon write about it).
Caribbean Soul Trekkers would like to especially thank Jamal, Jermaine, Edna, Katherine and Christopher for the special attention that made this the Caribbean anniversary of our dreams!
